Secondary Schools / Colleges

Charlton and Amber turn up at Charlie’s House uninvited. We watch how peer pressure leads to antisocial behaviour and all three of them being dragged through The British Criminal Justice System. The real power of the play is in showing that it’s not only the victims of peer pressure who suffer but also the perpetrators in gangs. All three characters eventually turn their lives around, and when a practical solution to bullying is revealed at the end of the play, we see why so many schools are now endorsing NUTTER as a real chance to address this problem.

NUTTER is a mix of verbatim drama, forum theatre, monologue, tableaux and improvisation. The police scenes are transcriptions from actual cases. The interaction with the audience covers racism, sexism, truancy, vandalism, alcohol and the causes of bullying.

Playing time is approximately one hour. We can accommodate anything from one class to an entire year group. NUTTER is suitable for PSHE, Drama, Anti-Bullying week and Enrichment Days. Price on application.

Primary Schools

Bullying in all its forms can spread through peer groups insidiously, even driving some children to attempt to take their own lives. The bullying drama workshop initially takes the students through revelatory drama games, group discussion on the different forms of bullying and then finally finds solutions to the issues presented with the aid of Forum Theatre. The workshop considers many issues including racism, exclusion, why people bully and where and how children can get help if being bullied.

Bristol Old Vic trained workshop leaders ensure that the whole experience is both exciting and devastatingly instructive, offering sound advice gathered from years of experience. Many schools have reported a reduction in bullying after the workshops.

The anti-bullying DVD and bullying lesson plan compliment PSHE requirements.

The bullying workshop is one hour in length, suitable for Key Stages 2 and Year 7 and can accommodate up to 60 children at a time.

Cost £120 per workshop for Year 7, £100 per workshop for Key Stage 2 plus travel if applicable.

Copies of the play and DVD are provided to facilitate follow up work and are available to buy on our DVD/Books page.
